The Sun Boat, A Voyage of Discovery
1957, Schildt's travels in Egypt in his ketch, Daphne
First UK edition. Hardback in dustwrapper. 22.5 × 14cm, 314pp.
Finnish travel writer and art historian Goran Schildt's account of his trip in the Daphne, a ketch built in 1935, up the River Nile from Alexandria to the Great Cataracts near Wadi Halfa in the Sudan, returning to the Mediterranean by Ismailia and the Suez Canal. The book takes in both the great monuments of classical Egypt and the modern day circumstances of Nasser's Egypt.
An attractive copy but with a few small tears to the wrapper's edges and some foxing to the page edges.
