First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 19 × 12.5cm, 254pp.

The famous psychoanalyst and detective Dame Beatrice Bradley and her feisty secretary, Laura, travel to Scotland for a conference. But when a series of mishaps lead Laura to the island of Tannasgan, she finds herself at the mercy of some menacing Scottish hospitality. Her strange adventure piques the interest of her employer, and local legends surrounding a cruel Laird lead the pair into a peculiar mystery.

A good copy. The book has quite heavy spotted foxing to the page edges, and also to the margins for the first and last few pages, with the off speckle to the margins in the main body of text. The boards are very slightly splayed but this could be corrected in time. The dustwrapper is in very good condition, with a little tanning and fading to the spine and edges but it has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
