Printing Details

First UK edition, hardback in dustwrapper. 21 × 14cm, 289pp.

Ten essays from renowned literary critic Edmund Wilson: Mr More and the Mithrac Bull, Is Verse a Dying Technique, In Hounour of Pushkin, A E Housman, Flaubert's Politics, The Ambiguity of Henry James, John Jay Chapman, The Satire of Samuel Butler, Bernard Shaw at Eighty, and Marxism and Literature.

The book is in very good condition, with some browning to the endpapers and page edges and a previous owner's name to the front pastedown (Sydney Gregory). There are occasional and inoffensive marginal annotations but these do not affect the text. The dustwrapper is chipped to the corners and a little worn but has not been price clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
