Printing Details
First edition, second printing. Hardback, bound in the original black cloth with paper title label to spine. 19 × 12.5cm, 88pp.
An early edition of Rupert Brooke's poetry (before he was better known for "If I should die"). The poems are divided into three sections: 1908–1911; Experiments (Chorambics I & II, and Desertion); and 1905–1908. This second edition was printed in April 1913 with only a few minor corrections. After Brooke's death in 1915 and the publication of '1914 and other poems', it was reprinted 6 times in 1915, and another 4 times in 1916. The pre-war printings are increasingly scarce.
Condition
Good plus condition. The title label to the spine is worn, and the book has had the ffep neatly excised. A water mark to the rear board has taken the sheen off the boards but has not resulting in discoloration. The contents are very clean, and the inner binding secure.
