Three volumes in one. Full leather binding by Simier R. du Roi (signed to the spine) with five raised bands and gilt decoration to spine. All edges gilt. 21.5 × 13cm, xxxi, 272pp, 270pp, 212pp. French text.
This copy has the bookplate of William Gordon Coesvelt, a banker and art collector who amassed a large collection of fine art, some of which was sold to Tsar Nicholas I.
The works of French tragedian Prosper Jolyot de Crebillon (1674—1762) including Idomenee, Atree et Thyeste, Electre, Rhadamisthe et Zenobie, Xerxes, Semiramis, Pyrrhus, Catilina, and Le Triumvirat, ou La Mort de Ciceron. Each play with an engraved plate by Clement Marillier, and the first volume with an engraved frontis portrait of Crebillon.
Condition
Fair condition. The leather is rubbed, and the spine has been relaid. The boards remain attached but the rear joint is weak. The pages are in good clean condition, with some tanning to the plates. Overall, a good readable copy.
