Not signed but with the book plate of Joseph William Chitty, a judge and Liberal politician, and sportsman in his younger days. Among his many sporting achievements were keeping wicket for the MCC in 1846/1847, and being part of the Oxford University crew for the 1849 Boat Race.
Contains five plays by seventeenth century dramatist Philip Massinger: The Duke of Milan, A New Way to Pay Old Debts, The Great Duke of Florence, The Maid of Honour, and The City Madam.
Condition
A good copy. There is some tanning to the spine and rubbing to the boards but the book remains in good readable condition, and with an interesting provenance.
