A rather rare, if battered, copy of a lecture given to the Shawlands U.F. Church Literary Society in November 1906, and then to the Skelmorlie Social and Debating Society in December. It aims, in the light of recent questions on Japanese success, to explain how Japan won the war against Russia in 1904/1905, and the causes of the "rapid national development which has placed Japan amongst the first-class Powers of the world."
Condition
Poor. There is loss to the cover and the whole has been folded in half. There is a heavy water stain to the title page and to the centre of the pages throughout. However, it remains a scarce item and it is rarely offered for sale.
