This copy has been signed by the author's wife to the ffep, "C M S De Montmorency, 31 Lee Terrace, Blackheath, SE3". This was Caroline Maud Saumarez De Montmorency (nee de Havilland) and they married in 1899.
A collection of eleven short stories and written sketches, some of which have a folk-lore or supernatural flavour, and with a poem to the fallen as a preface. The author, James Edward Geoffrey de Montmorency, was a British barrister who was the Quain Professor of Comparative Law in the University of London, 1920–1930, and also composed entries for the Dictionary of National Biography.
Condition
Good condition. The card covers are a little chipped and sun-faded, slight loss to the spine ends. The pages are untrimmed but clean and the inner binding is secure.
