Benjamin Lumley was the director of Her Majesty's theatre on London's Haymarket for twenty years, where, with Michael Costa, he staged many operas and ballet including introducing some of Verdi's operas to London, and working with the stars of the age like Jenny Lind (he staged her debut in 1847). This book contains his reminiscences from him taking over Her Majesty's Theatre through to the late 1850s.
Condition
A good reading copy of a scarce book. The red cloth is rubbed and darkened, with some fraying to both front and rear joints. The front hinge is starting to show some wear, and the inner binding at the start of the book is also a little tired but no pages are loose and the book remains in strong readable condition.
