This is a gripping account of Captain Scott's Terra Nova expedition, 1910–1913. Apsley Cherry-Garrard, one of the youngest members of Scott's team, recorded the experience of his adventure and in doing so created a masterpiece of travel writing. Despite the horrors that Scott and his men faced, Cherry's account is filled with details of scientific discovery, unforgettable descriptions of landscape and a belief in the spirit of human beings. A celebrated and compelling book on Antarctic exploration.
Condition
A good solid copy. There is a little marking and rubbing to the blue cloth, and the front hinge is beginning to weaken a little at the top but remains securely bound. Neat previous owner's gift inscription to the ffep. Inner binding secure and the pages clean.
