Printing Details

Second edition. Thick card covers. 31.5 × 25cm, 289pp.

This copy was owned by British painter and sculptor David Heathcote with his name to the ffep. Heathcote (b.1931) studied at the Slade School of Art, and worked in Zimbabwe and Nigeria for twenty years, an experience that would contribute significantly to his creative vision.

A catalogue of an exhibition at the Leeds City Art Galleries, April-June 1987. Profusely illustrated with articles by leading art historians, including Richard Cork's "Images from Stone; Epstein as Carver", Elizabeth Barker's "The Primitive Within; The Question of Race in Epstein's Career 1917–1929" and a chronology compiled by Elsje Prinz and Terry Friedman.

Condition

Good condition. The spine is creased and there is a little spotted foxing to the page edges. David Heathcote has made some inoffensive pencil annotations (such as adding Epstein's dates) but the book remains in strong readable condition.
