Printing Details

First edition. Three volumes, complete. Hardback, bound in red cloth with gilt titling to spine. Each 23 × 15cm, lx + 435pp, xxxvi + pp455–909, xxxiv + pp910–1360.

A scholarly edition of the correspondence of Thomas Gray. This edition presents an authoritative text, together with an introduction and commentary notes. Each book has a handful of illustrations in black and white, including portraits, map and facsimile letters. Volume one covers 1734–55, volume 2 is 1756–1765, and volume 3 is 1767–1771.

Condition

A good reading or reference set. Whilst the books are in strong readable condition, they are ex-University library, each with a label to the front board and front pastedown and fairly sensitive discard marks. The front hinge to volume 1 is a little weak but still holding well. The red cloth is bumped and rubbed but not terribly so.
