Printing Details
Pocket edition. Bound in plain cloth. 9.5 × 6cm, 612pp.
This pocket edition has an interesting history. It was sent back from the trenches of the Great War to Blighty in 1914. There is an inscription to the rear endpaper which reads "A momento [sic] of the European War 1914. From the Battlefields of France, from an admirer to Miss Nellie Caldwell". There is also gift inscription to the front of the book dated 2nd October 1914 from Belfast but can't say whether this is connected to the other inscription.
This pocket edition contains the New Testament from St Matthew through to the Book of Revelation.
Condition
Heavily worn as it has been, quite literally, in the wars. The cloth is rubbed and marked, the rear pastedown has been removed, some creasing to the pages and the red dye to the page edges has run a little. A worn copy but with a history!
