This copy comes from the library of Fleur Cowles, the American writer, artist and founder of Flair magazine and she has signed the half-title page in red ink from New York in 1955. And with Fleur Cowles' library plate by Sotherans is also pasted in.
American journalist and writer John Gunther's study of Africa, for which he travelled 40,000 miles visiting 105 different African localities and interviewing more than 1500 people. He explores Africa's history, and examines the future in the light of current social, economic and political conditions. He also presents many African leaders, such as Strijdom, Haile Selassie, Nasser, and Kenyatta.
