This copy was owned by British painter and sculptor David Heathcote with his name to the ffep. Heathcote (b.1931) studied at the Slade School of Art, and worked in Zimbabwe and Nigeria for twenty years, an experience that would contribute significantly to his creative vision. He has also noted that this book was given to him by Roger Cardinal, the art historian who originated the term "outsider art".
An illustrated study of the life and work of French fantasy film-maker Georges Melies, exploring, among other things, the phantasmagoria in Melies' 'theatre of spectacle' using the development of trick photography.
