A political tract, satirical in tone, on the Corn Laws (the tariffs on trade of imported corn which began in 1815) which kept corn prices high to favour domestic producers. The tract is written in the style of a family story between Farmer John (the worker and eventual victim) and his younger brother Master Mercat (representing British mercantilism).
Condition
This item, as mentioned, has no covers. There is light foxing. The half-title is almost detached, the inner binding weak, and the final page of text is also nearly detached. However, it remains readable with gentle handling.
