This is the first twelve issues of an in-house magazine for the Hampden Residential Club in London, from October 1924 to October 1925, with a single supplementary issue and index bound in, with the original covers retained. The Hampden residential Club was established in 1884 in North London, and was club for gentlemen to gather together, play billiards, smoke cigars and drink brandy etc, with accommodation. These issues have biographical details of members (eg Leslie Curnow, the spiritualist), as well as news, articles of interest by members, an editorial, adverts, sports notices etc
Condition
Very good condition for age. There is some light marking to the cloth boards and some spotted foxing to the prelims but on the whole these issues are well-preserved. Previous owner's bookplate to the ffep is John Avery, FCA, of Woodford Green, Essex, and who is mentioned in the issues as a member.
