Here are two illustrated studies of the artist Rex Whistler, the British artist who was killed in Normandy in 1944. Both are first edition paperbacks.
1. Rex Whistler's War 1939—July 1944, Artist into Tank Commander by Jeremy Spencer-Smith. Published by the National Army Museum in 1994, this book commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the artist's death and is illustrated throughout with his art, letters and sketches.
2. Rex Whistler, The Triumph of Fancy by Stephen Calloway. Published by Brighton Art Gallery in 2006 to accompany an exhibition of Rex Whistler's art, this book catalogues some of his work from childhood through to the 1940s.
Condition
Both books are in good condition, with some sunning to the spines and light edgewear to the covers but remaining in strong readable condition.
