The first English translation of the Czech novel which recounts the story of the forester Bartos and the vixen Sharp-Ears. It tells how the vixen is captured but escapes, marries, and raises a litter. She is shot by a poacher, but her spirit survives in her cubs. Beautifully illustrated in colour by Maurice Sendak.

The book itself is in very good condition with clean pages and secure binding. The dustwrapper has some light wear and surface marking but is also in good, solid condition.
