First published in 1791, Boswell's Johnson was an immediate success and represents a landmark in the development of the modern genre of biography. This edition printed in double columns.
Condition
An attractive copy in strong readable condition. The leather is scuffed and rubbed to the boards' edges and joints, and with a school prize label to the front pastedown. There's a slip of card which was issued as a "Reader's Notes" help, where the reader could slip it over the corner of the page they've reached and make any relevant notes (it is removable).
