Not signed, but from the library of Anne Powell, historian, anthologist and author on the First and Second World Wars. She wrote a biography of Pamela's son Edward Wyndham Tennant (Bim) who was killed the following year on the Somme.
Pamela Glenconner's retelling in English of the story of Joan of Arc, the fifteenth century a patron saint of France who was burnt at the stake in 1431 for heresy (she was accused of having blasphemed by wearing men's clothes and of acting upon visions that were demonic). Boutet de Monvel's illustrated story of Joan of Arc was published in 1896 leading to an increase in interest in her and her canonization in 1920.
Condition
Good condition. There is some tanning to the covers and endpapers but the main body of text is in good readable condition and the inner binding is secure.
