An interesting book on the conservation and restoration of paintings. It begins with the general principles of conservation, and then the action of light, candle smoke, temperature etc on paintings. The second part is restoration, again with general principles, then examining the varnish layer, the paint layer, maladies of the canvas and wooden supports etc. Illustrated with black and white photographs and drawings. The appendices including cleaning, dusting, and hygiene of storage, and a bibliography of studies published in the review Mouseion.
Condition
This copy is in very good condition for age, though with some rubbing, bumping and scuffing to the boards.
