This is the full script of a radio programme written by Beatrix Brice in memory of the 'Old Contemptibles', the soldiers of the BEF who went to France to half the German advance in the first months of the Great War. The text is from official histories and the military leaders (Sir John French, Horace Smith-Dorrien etc), as well unnamed soldiers of both the British and German armies. The version that was recorded for radio was shorter as it had to be condensed to one hour, this copy is unedited.
The author was a great supporter of the British army and was instrumental in the formation of the Ypres League, a World War I veterans and remembrance society.
Condition
A rare book in fair condition. The boards are rubbed and the hinges are loose, and the text is held in place by the string binding, However, it remains a good readable copy and rare to find signed.
