Our Little Sunbeams
1896, with the bookplate of the illustrator, Kenneth M Skeaping
First edition. Hardback, bound in decorative cloth. 19 × 12.5cm, 186pp + ads.
Not signed as such but this copy was owned by the illustrator and has his bookplate (designed by himself) to the front pastedown. Kenneth Mathiason Skeaping (1856–1946) was a lithographer, portrait painter and illustrator, and father to sculptor John Skeaping.
A collection of childrens' stories, very much late-Victorian in style, and illustrated throughout by Skeaping.
Fair condition only. The boards are rubbed and the inner binding is quite heavily pulled particularly to the last few chapters. The pages with some tanning and spotted foxing to margins. However, a nice copy of Skeaping's bookplate.
