From the dustwrapper, "Jack Woddis has spent a number of years studying African developments, and has had the opportunity of close contact with many of Africa's political and trade union leaders. The present volume deals with the social and economic causes of the 'wind of change' which is now sweeping the African continent. In a detailed and objective examination of the impact of colonialism on the African peoples, the author finds the basis of the contemporary revolt against white domination in the conditions of land tenure and labour which were imposed by the Colonial Powers." The author was a lifelong Communist, and member of the Movement for Colonial Freedom.
