An illustrated study of the landscape and maritime painter of the Liverpool School. He worked and showed almost exclusively in Liverpool. He appears to have added the Julius Caesar to his name himself and thus giving him a distinctive signature. His influences were clearly J M W Turner and the Pre-Raphaelites, as can be seen in the illustrations in this book.
