1900, the fifth edition of the German musicologist Hugo Riemann's great work
Fifth edition. Hardback, rebound in plain blue binder's cloth with gilt titling to spine. New endpapers, marbled page edges. 21.5 × 14cm, xxiii + 1284pp, 4pp ads. German text.
First published in 1882, the Riemann Musiklexikon was a huge undertaking by the German musicologist, attempting to a create a complete dictionary of music and musicians.
Previous owner's inscription to the half-title reads "Der lieben Clara Bauman, in erinnerung anden deutschen Aufenthalt von K Karpf".
A very good copy. The rebinding has been done to a high standard and the binding is secure. There is some spotted foxing to the pages but the book remains in strong readable condition.
