Printing Details

First edition. Hardback bound in green cloth with gilt titling to spine, and a rather nice gilt Globe Theatre to the upper board. Top edge gilt. 23.5 × 1 5cm, xvii + 561pp.

A comprehensive illustrated biography of Shakespeare from ancestry and parentage though to his death and the publication of the Quartos, the attempted collection of 1619 and the First Folio. The author was a prominent Shakespeare scholar and the first officially appointed director of the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C.

Condition

A good plus copy. The book has untrimmed edges which are a little tanned and there is a very slight weakening to the binding at the title page but otherwise a good solid copy.
