A collection of new writing from early 1937, some with reference to what was happening across Europe, including Christopher Isherwood's "A Berlin Diary", John Sommerfield's "To Madrid", as well as work from Stephen Spender, William Plomer, Edward Upward, C Day Lewis et al. Also includes the first printing of W H Auden's poem "Lay your sleeping head, my love, / Human on my faithless arm;"

Condition

A good copy but lightly foxed throughout. There is some marking to the green cloth and the pages are browned where untrimmed to the fore-edge. Despite the foxing the book remains in strong readable condition.
