Tolstoy's childrens' book which is based on the 1883 Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. Buratino is a long-nosed wooden puppet. According to the story, he is carved by Papa Carlo (the story's version of Geppetto) from a log, and suddenly comes to life.
The book is illustrated in colour by Russian artist Aminadav Kanevsky (1898–1976).
The covers are heavily rubbed and chipped, and the endpapers ate foxed and tanned. However, the main body of text is in very good condition with clean pages and secure binding. Rare with Kanevsky's signature.
