The Second Jungle Book
1903, with the bookplate of typographer John Lewis, FSIA
Reprint. Hardback, bound in the original red cloth with gilt titling to spine and gilt roundel to upper board. Top edge gilt. 20.5 × 13.5cm, 299pp.
Not signed but this copy belonged to John Lewis (1912–1996), the typographer, author, illustrator and printer, and has his bookplate to the front pastedown.
The Second Jungle Book (Kipling's sequel to The Jungle Book) was first published in 1895, it features five stories about Mowgli and three unrelated stories, with all but one set in India.
Good condition. There is some bumping to the red cloth binding, particularly to the boards' fore-edge and spine. The prelims are foxed and there is a previous owner's name to the title page, but otherwise this is in strong readable condition.
