The author's first novel. From the dustwrapper, "David Plante's first novel explores the relationship between four brothers and a sister: young, cultivated, moderately well-to-do, and haunted by their individual failures to come to grips with the 'outside' world. Drifting between Boston, London, New York and Rome, between abortive love affairs and half-spent passions, they are never quite able to banish the terrible sense of illusion that pervades their lives—except perhaps when they are in their own company. When one of the brothers suddenly dies, his death creates a strangely alluring void, into which they seem to be inexorably drawn."
Condition
Good condition. The book is in sound shape, with some marginal tanning. The dustwrapper is a little creased to the edges and scuffed to the base of the spine but is now within a protective sleeve.
