Dickens's Dictionary of London, 1879
An Unconventional Handbook
First edition, first printing. Small hardback bound in blue cloth with printed titling and design to spine and upper board. 16.5 × 12cm, 280pp + tables of distances and adverts.
Written by Charles Dickens' son, this is an a to z of London, from buildings and streets, clubs, shopping, sayings, districts etc, and with a table of distances from various central London locations to others (eg Charing Cross to Ludgate Circus, Upper Street to Notting Hill), and with some fine contemporary adverts at the rear.
This copy is in good condition for age. The boards are a little faded and bumped, but the inner binding is secure. A previous owner has written 22 Park Crescent to the title page.
