The Greatness and Decline of the Celts
A study of their society, religion and social life
First edition. Hardback, bound in blue cloth with gilt titling to spine. 24.5 × 15.5cm, xvi + 314pp, 20pp ads.
Part of The History of Civilization series. It was published at a formative time within the social sciences, and during a period of decisive historical discovery. The aim of the general editor, C.K. Ogden, was to summarize the most up-to-date findings and theories of historians, anthropologists, archaeologists and sociologists. This title looks at the Celts in Italy, the East, West, Germany, Gaul, Britain and Ireland, as well as their society, politics, religion and social life.
A good reading copy. The blue cloth binding is a little bumped, the pages lightly foxed throughout and some light wear to the front hinge.
