Printing Details

1946 & 1947. First editions. Hardback, rebound in full red leather with gilt titling and four raised bands to the spines. Each 19.5 × 13cm. 384pp + 512pp

These are the first two volumes of Scottish novelist James Barke's quintet about the poet Robert Burns.

Whilst the rebinding is attractive, it is not quite professional. The inner binding is a little worn in first volume, with the binding cracked but not loose at the first page of text. The second volume is foxed to the prelims but in both volumes the main body of text is clean and the books remain in good readable condition. Previous owner's bookplate to each, and po's name to second volume.
