This copy has been signed by the author to Charles John Klyberg in Washington DC in 1991 at the Feast of the Ascension. John Klyberg was a clergyman in Zambia and Battersea before becoming the Bishop of Fulham from 1985 to 1996. After his retirement, he was received into the Roman Catholic Church and was made a Prelate of Honour by Pope John Paul II.
In the first complete account of the Druze, Robert Brenton Betts provides a general survey of the history, traditions, and society of this secretive Arab sect. Betts, who has spent a great deal of time with the Druze, interweaves his firsthand observations with a wealth of primary and secondary sources, describing not only their thousand-year history but also their political significance in today's Middle East.
Good condition. There is some light wear to the covers but the book remains in sound readable condition.
