Signed and dedicated by Peter Liddle to the title page to a Great War veteran, "With all good wishes to Dr Bill Mackenzie, himself a 1914–1918 man. Peter Liddle, Christmas 1980"

Historian Peter Liddle's study of the Dardenelles campaign in the Great War. His contention is that the military and political gains had been set at an unrealistically high level and he concentrates on the experience of the men who faced extended limits of physical and emotional endurance in striving for those gains. Illustrated with maps and photographs.

This copy is in very good condition, with some tanning and foxing to the page edges but otherwise a decent, solid copy.
