"Films Deliver" is the published results of the efforts of the staff and participants of Fordham University's National Film Study Project to develop materials and methods to help teachers at all levels teach creatively with films. Here, all teachers, media-art enthusiasts, librarians can learn the whys, whats, wheres, whens, and hows of using film and television to spark interest, generate discussion, and develop critical thinking and analytical ability.
The book is divided into four sections and moves from the rationale for film study to case histories of successful projects and units to how-to-do-it practices and student filmmaking. Extensive appendices of annotated filmographies and bibliographies, lists of sources, and sample teachers' guides are basic references in themselves. There is also a title index of all films mentioned or discussed.
