Edwin Muir's portrait of the Calvinist
First edition, first printing, hardback in dustwrapper. 21 × 14cm. 316pp.
Edwin Muir's biography of John Knox "is a study of a religious type rather than a contribution to history. It builds up a portrait of Knox the Calvinist, the Scotsman and the Puritan, and tries to describe the system of idea within which he lived"
A reading copy. Whilst the pages and inner binding are n very good condition, the burgundy cloth binding has mottled fading and the dustwrapper is heavily stained to the spine and all edges. There is slight loss at the spine ends but is now within a protective sleeve.
