Muirkirk in Bygone Days
A brief history of the Scottish village in East Ayrshire
First edition. Hardback, quarter cloth with paper covered boards. 19.5 × 13cm, 59pp.
Full title: Muirkirk in Bygone Days, with a Description of the Parish, Published in 1761 by an Unknown Writer
The text of this book is taken from a lecture delivered to the Ramblers Club of Muirkirk in October 1909, and details the last few hundred years of history of Muirkirk, a small village in East Ayrshire. The last nine pages are an article reprinted from a 1761 edition of The Edinburgh Magazine again describing the village. This copy has an attractive bookplate to the front pastedown for John Crawford Watson and depicts a sailing ship.
A good reading copy. The covers are bumped and rubbed and the pages have scattered foxing but remains in strong readable condition.
