A well informed and comprehensive study of Maria Callas' life in art. The book contains a complete biography of the artist, followed by an analysis of her character and personality which have had the most influence on her operatic art. There are also studies of her most famous roles, each of which includes a resume of the opera concerned and a critique of the heroine as interpreted by Madame Callas. The book ends with a critical account of her concert performances, and a list of her recordings to date.
The book is in good condition, with light scattered foxing and a little bumping to the spine ends. There are two photographs from newspapers pasted in to the front pastedown and ffep, and a previous owner's name. The dustwrapper is a little chipped and creased to the edges and folds but is otherwise good.Sold
