The Folk Speech of East Yorkshire
"As soft as a boiled tonnap"
First edition, hardback with gilt titling to spine. 19.5 × 13cm. xii, 110pp + 2pp ads.
An interesting book on the dialect of East Yorkshire. The introduction covers history, antiquity, Danish influence, wealth, force and humour, before giving examples of nominies, similes, belicose words and specimens of the dialect.
A good copy, there is some fading and rubbing to the covers and some pages are uncut (ie unopened at the top) but otherwise the book is in good order.
