A collection of maxims from Paul-Jean Toulet, the French poet and author. The book is illustrated with 19 drawings and 3 cul-de-lampe by Jean Emile Laboureur, a friend of the poet and artist best known for his woodcuts and etchings of daily life, and considered to be the first printmaker to be strongly influenced Cubism.
A good copy. The leather spine is faded, scuffed and with quite heavy surface wear, with spotting to the boards where leather, though the vellum covered parts are in very good order. The contents are in good, clean condition with a little wear to the front hinge but the binding remains secure.
