The Trial of Lucullus
1943 first edition of Brecht's radio play
First edition, hardback in dustwrapper. 22.5 × 16cm, unpaginated.
A radio play by Bertolt Brecht. The great Roman General Lucullus is judged in the underworld by representatives of the living future. The figures from his triumphal frieze are called as witnesses to his victories but only his introduction of the cherry tree into Europe speaks for him. Thus his bloody hands are not entirely empty, but 80,000 dead is a high price to pay.
The book is in very good condition. The dustwrapper is faded to the spine, has slight edgewear and a tear to the rear flap but has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
Please note: Due to the recent price rise for final mile delivery from USPS, our postage rates to the US have had to rise. We apologise for this but have no choice.
