Two volumes from Pope's translation of The Odyssey, each volume adorned with plates. Volume 5 contains books XVII to XX and has four plates by Robert Smirke. Volume 6 contains books XXI to XXIV and also has four plates, four by Henry Fuseli and one by Robert Westall. This volume also contains Homer's Battle of the Frogs and Mice by Archdeacon Parnell, corrected by Pope.


Both books are in heavily-worn condition, with the front board of vol 5 very nearly detached and all other joints weak. The leather in rubbed and scuffed condition. However, the text is complete and the books remains readable with care.
