Bret Harte's short story was first published in 1868 and is the story is about the birth of a baby boy in a 19th-century gold prospecting camp. This edition issued in the Readers Library series, a successful publishing of novels, often with (then) lurid dustwrappers.

Condition

Very good condition for a Readers Library book. The dustwraper is bright and with just a little edgewear. The pages tanned (as is nearly always the case) and the binding secure.
