Two books bound as one. The first book is MacFarlane's study of social life in the South of Italy which originally appeared in the Penny Magazine between 1834 and 1845, and covers carnivals, horse-racing, maccaroni-eaters, the peasantry, wandering Italians, gipsies, shepherds etc, and the second title is an 1848 printing of Wilhelm Wittich's travels along the western coast of Norway written in a series of seven letters.
Condition
This copy is in very good condition for age but the leather is rubbed and scuffed to the corners and joints. The inner binding is sound and the pages are clean.
