Folk Stories from Southern Nigeria West Africa
40 folk tales with an introduction by Andrew Lang
First edition, first printing. Hardback bound in the original green cloth with printed titling and design to spine and upper board. 20 × 13.5cm, xvi + 159pp.
A collection of forty folk tales from Southern Nigeria. Andrew Lang contributes a useful introduction which has a one-line description of each (eg A lunar myth, or a Just-So Story, or even "is unimportant"). The book has a frontispiece illustration of a Ju-ju mask from Ibo country.
A good copy. The green cloth has mottled fading, and the pages are a little tanned but inner binding is secure. The book is stamped "presentation copy" to the title page.
