Dore Ashton's illustrated study of Mark Rothko
First US edition, first printing hardback in dustwrapper. 24 × 16.5cm. 225pp.
Dore Ashton's study of the American painter Mark Rothko. She draws on her countless interviews with the artist—giving little credence to the false mythology surrounding his work—to take us to the heart of Rothko's painting, showing its derivation from his reading, travel, and thought.
The book is in very good condition, with some light tanning to the page edges. The dustwrapper has a few small closed tears to the edges but has not been price-clipped.
