The author was a rubber planter on the Millakande Estate in Kalawellawa, and this is a comprehensive guide for rubber plantations. It includes chapters in clearings, cultivation, plant sanitation, tapping, manufacture, factory and machinery, cooly lines and medical, general buildings, and cost of opening and production. It is illustrated throughout with plans of kilns, buildings, and plantation layouts, including hospitals for workers, bungalows, rubber factories for manufacturing smoked sheet etc etc.
This rare first edition is in good condition. It is an ex-library copy and has been stamped to the title page and the back of every plate, as well as having a reference number to the spine. The inner binding is secure but worn a little at the contents page. The pages clean.
